VIZZ Eye Drops for Presbyopia – How to Use Safely & Holistically
By Dr. Sam Berne, O.D.
What is VIZZ?
VIZZ (aceclidine ophthalmic solution 1.44%) is an FDA-approved prescription eye drop for presbyopia—age-related blurry near vision.
It works by gently narrowing the pupil (“pinhole effect”), which increases depth of focus and improves reading vision for **up to 10 hours** without changing the lens’s natural shape.
How to Use VIZZ Safely
Frequency As prescribed by your eye doctor. I recommend occasional use (1–2× per week) when needed for critical near-vision tasks.
Timing Effects begin in \~30 minutes. Use before reading, crafting, or other nearby tasks.
Lighting: Avoid use at night or in dim environments—it may slightly dim vision.
Contact Lenses Remove before use; wait at least 10 minutes before reinserting.
Hygiene Do not touch the vial tip to your eye or lashes. Discard the single-use vial after opening.
Possible Side Effects
Most are mild and temporary:
* Eye redness or mild irritation
* Headache
* Dim vision in low light
Seek immediate care if you notice flashes of light, a sudden increase in floaters, or a dark curtain over your vision (possible retinal issue).
How It Fits in a Holistic Vision Plan
VIZZ is a support tool alongside vision wellness practices:
1. **Vision Exercises** – Convergence training, eye tracking, and accommodative flexibility work to strengthen natural focusing.
2. **Nervous System Support** – Vagus nerve resets, breathwork, and somatic movement to improve visual comfort.
3. **Healthy Lighting** – Use natural light when possible for reduced strain.
4. **Nutritional Support** – Antioxidants, carotenoids (lutein & zeaxanthin), and omega-3 fatty acids for lens and retinal health.
5. **”Off Days”** – Give your eyes time without the drops to maintain adaptability.
## **Summary**
VIZZ can give a quick, clear boost to your near vision, but it’s **not a cure** for presbyopia. The real long-term benefits come when it’s combined with lifestyle changes, movement, and targeted vision training.
