Practitioner's Training

Functional Vision Integrative Body™ (FVIB)
A Professional Training for Naturopathic Physicians & Integrative Health Practitioners
Program Overview
Functional Vision Integrative Body™ (FVIB) is a unique professional training created by Dr. Sam Berne, a holistic optometrist and educator with over 40 years of clinical and teaching experience. FVIB provides practitioners with functional, non-invasive tools to evaluate and support the visual system while integrating whole-body health approaches.

The program is designed for non-eye doctors — including naturopathic physicians, chiropractors, occupational therapists, and holistic health professionals. It does not involve diagnosing or treating medical eye conditions; instead, FVIB empowers practitioners with education, assessment skills, and somatic practices to enhance patient outcomes.
Core Components
• Functional Vision Assessments – Reading eye, pupil, and sclera patterns; evaluating visual function.
• Somatic Education & Nervous System Reset – Primitive reflex integration, vagus nerve regulation, lymphatic activation.
• Color & Light Therapy – Evidence-informed approaches for mood, cognition, and visual balance.
• Iridology & Systemic Health Mapping – Understanding the eye-body connection for holistic care.
• Practical Therapeutics – Introduction to nutrition, aromatherapy, and herbal protocols that support vision.

• Recognize visual patterns linked to systemic and nervous system function.
• Apply somatic and sensory-motor exercises to improve vision and body integration.
• Incorporate light, color, and relaxation modalities into patient care.

Functional Vision Integrative BodyTM

The Functional Vision Integrative BodyTM is a certification program that empowers practitioners to be able to educate clients on enhancing their functional vision through a holistic approach that integrates vision with vestibular, postural and body awareness, brain/learning processing, lymphatic stimulation practices, Dr. Berne’s bodywork method, Dr. Berne’s color therapy method, and Dr. Berne’s nutritional protocols.
In this level one, six-module training, participants will learn how to evaluate functional vision without diagnosing or treating eye conditions. Instead, the focus is on educating clients to improve their eyesight/vision and overall performance and wellness.
