Can We Regenerate Our Eyes?

October 15, 2025 - EyeClarity Blog

For decades, the prevailing wisdom in eye care has been that once vision declines, there’s no turning back. Glasses, contacts, surgery — those have been the tools of mainstream eye care. However, new research in neuroplasticity, light therapy, and holistic healing reveals something revolutionary: the eyes can regenerate.
👁 The Eyes Are Not Just Cameras
Most people think of the eyes as simple cameras that wear down with age. But in reality, your eyes are extensions of your brain. The eyes directly connect to the nervous, vascular, and lymphatic systems. When these systems are supported, the eyes can repair and function better than we once thought possible.
🔬 What Science Is Showing Us
• Neuroplasticity: The brain’s ability to rewire and adapt doesn’t stop in childhood. Vision pathways can strengthen, adapt, and recover function throughout life.
• Light Therapy: Specific wavelengths, like red and near-infrared, have been shown to support mitochondrial health in retinal cells. (Contact us if you want a pair of the Red Exercise Glasses: hello@drsamberne.com)
• Stress Reduction: Chronic tension in the neck, jaw, and nervous system restricts blood flow to the eyes. Somatic practices, breathwork, and vagus nerve resets promote circulation and relaxation, which benefit vision.
🧘 Practical Steps You Can Try Today
Soft Focus Using The Yin Yang Chart: Yin/Yang Chart: Hold the chart up to the nose so that the Yin/Yang is at eye level. Look through the chart and slowly move it away from your face, keeping your gaze through it. At about ten inches, you should see three Yin/Yang symbols. Relax and breathe. Once the picture is stable, slowly move the paper from left to right and then back to the left. You can also move the paper from up to down and diagonally, but always keep looking through it into soft focus (3-5 minutes). FEEL BODY IN THE CHAIR—. If you would like to receive the chart, please get in touch with us at hello@drsamberne.com, and we will email it to you.

Palm Hum Exercise: Palming and Hum—hum on exhale:
Breathe in and out through the nose, extend the exhale, Tongue at the roof of the mouth, say
the letter “N” to yourself. Sit comfortably, close your eyes gently, and cover them with
the cups of your palms in such a way that there is no pressure on the eyeball. Tuck a
pillow or cushion below the elbows or rest them on the table so that the elbows do not
get tired. Palm for five minutes. The longer people palm, the greater the relaxation.
While palming, imagine the color black. 5 minutes total.
This exercise is a simple yet profound act with lasting effects. It calms the mind, reduces
anxiety, relaxes eye strain, and improves vision. All you have to do is sit down, lean
forward, rest your elbows on your desk, close your eyes, and cover them with the
Palms of your hands. It is the palms (concave part), not the fingers or heel of your hands, that cover the eye sockets. As you lean over, bend from your pelvis and lengthen your
back up to your skull so that your neck and spine are extended, not flexed back, and your
shoulders are broad. You can also sit with elbows propped on your knees, a chair back,
or a cushion, or you can rest on your back or side with pillows to support your arms. Clear
your mind, relax your muscles, and breathe continually.
Feel your eyes give up the tension of trying to see. Let go as much as possible. Relax
your hands, feel them pulling energy through your eyes. Let’s go to allow visualization
without strain. Palming sessions can last anywhere from just ten breaths to several hundred. The
most important thing is to keep breathing. Most people can see more clearly after just a
few minutes of palming.
Palm daily. Do it in the morning to start the day with relaxation and awareness. Do it at
night just before bedtime for a more relaxed and healing sleep. Palm before any visually
demanding task or when you feel the need to relax your eyes or calm your mind. Make it
a life-long habit. Two things happen after several weeks of palming. You get better at
it—the relaxation becomes more profound and you get to it more quickly. Also, you
memorize the feeling of palming. Now you have something to compare with the
unconscious ocular tension that feels normal but locks your mind and eyes in an
unhealthy state.

💡 The Bigger Picture
Regeneration doesn’t mean reversing every eye condition overnight. It means creating the environment where your eyes and nervous system can restore balance and function. Small, consistent practices build resilience — and over time, they can lead to clearer, more comfortable vision.
